Seasonal Activities

Every season is DC season!

Washington DC has a lot to explore and experience. The seasonal activities make it a great destination for tourists and source of entertainment for locals. Below are some, but not all seasonal activities DC has to offer.

Spring

Cherry Blossom Festival

The Cherry Blossom Festival is the time of the year when the George town waterfront turns into a sea of pink cherry blossoms.

Embassy Open House Event

During two weekends all Embassies in DC open their doors to visitors and the curious. One of the weekends is purely European Embassies and the other weekend rest of the world. Just a warning, start early and map your route because it will get crowded.

Summer

Visit Virginia Wineries

Only about 1 hour outside DC you will find beautiful landscapes and amazing wines. Come with your friends and enjoy some winetastings and snacks. I recommend to visit 3 wineries at the most. Consider travel time and how long you want to stay at each one.

Celebrate 4th of July

What is better than celebrating Independence Day in the capital city. During this night many visitors come to sit and relax on the grass area between the capitol and the Washington Monument to watch some fireworks. But it does get very hot and crowded, so be prepared.

Fall

Renaissance Festival in Maryland

Just x hours of driving outside DC is the Renaissance Festival. A village where you feel like you traveled back in time. Borrow a dress or crusader attire to be part of your surroundings to enjoy some plays and hearty food.

Museums

Whatever you are interested in, we have a museum for it. Contemporary Art, American history, Natural history, History of Native Americans, History of African Americans, Botanical Gardens, the Zoo, Air and Space Museum etc. We have them all! Visit every day between 9am and 5pm except Christmas.

Winter

Santa Run

So much fun it is to run on a snowy jolly day. Get your Santa hat and join a group of other fellow crazies for a themed run around the city.

Museums

Yes I wrote it again. Because the winter is long and the museums are numerous. So you will need more than one season to see them all.
